Road to Doing Business – Startups & Mature Organizations Cooperation

This kind of collaboration can be really fruitful. But there are, certainly, best practices that we can discuss and must consider.

In this session, we will understand some processes for collaboration between startups and bigger mature organisations.

On a fluid conversation, the guests will focus on the mature organizations perspective on innovation management based on the collaboration with startups. Case studies will be shared, giving insights about possible challenges within the set-up, execution and evaluation of pilots supporting to calibrate expectations when piloting with corporates.

About the Guests

Sonja Moosburger

Managing Director at MediaMarktSaturn N3XT, a subsidiary of the biggest consumer electronics retailer in Europe with brands like Media Markt and Saturn. Since 2014, Sonja is testing new technologies such as robots and instore navigation with her team. She is also involved in the digitization of business models and processes as well as the related opportunities for the MediaMarktSaturn Group. Sonja worked in digitalization and retail even before joining the MediaMarktSaturn Group. A graduate in business administration specializing in retail, her previous positions include management consultant at IBM Germany, where she focused on strategy consulting.

Rafael Pires

Rafael Pires is a software engineer interested in entrepreneurship, innovation, and product management. Rafael co-founded Startup X, a non-profit organisation aiming to multiply the impact of entrepreneurs and startups all over the world. Startup X was responsible for programs like Startup Pirates, a one week community driven pre-acceleration program for aspiring entrepreneurs and PortugalStartups.com, an independent news blog with content about the Portuguese Startup Ecosystem (acquired by Espacio). Currently, Rafael manages the IT Labs at Sonae MC (Bit), where he plans and executes experiments with startups. Additionally, he also manages the tech experimentation and pilots team at Associação Porto Digital, promoting the connection between startups and the city.

About the Road to Doing Business

In troubled times when collaboration can only bring an advantage to the ecosystem, together with UPTEC, ScaleUp Porto is promoting the 5th edition of Doing Business. In this activity, startups and mature organizations look for synergies through a set of match-making meetings.

Before these meetings, we are preparing a set of webinars where relevant topics will be discussed and will, hopefully, increase the chances of success in these meetings. These sessions were prepared considering the activity, but everyone is invited to join in.
