Between October 25th and 26th, Data Science Portugal organized DSPT Day, a conference for Data Scientists, supported by the Call for Activities 2019.
For two days, the Dr. António Cupertino de Miranda Foundation, in Porto, became the data mecca, thanks to DSPT Day, an initiative organized by Data Science Portugal – Portuguese Data Science Association.
This activity, supported by the Call for Activities ScaleUp Porto 2019, was responsible for the largest concentration of data scientists that occurred in Portugal, with a total of 450 participants.
The main novelty of this edition of the DSPT Day was related to the extension of the event from one to two days of activities, in addition to a reinforced bet in practical workshops.
Debates included topics such as Big Data, Machine Learning, NLP, Deep Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Data Mining, Data Journalism, Computer Vision and Robotics.
The extensive list of invited speakers was marked by the presence of Tarry Singh, president and CEO of DK Ventures, Sophie Warner, English data journalist, Gilberto Titericz, a reference name on the Kaggle platform and Miguel Cabrera, a senior New Yorker data scientist. Portuguese names like Alípio Jorge and Sofia Maçãs, from the University of Coimbra, were present. The list of speakers was completed by experts from leading companies such as Feedzai, Google DeepMind, QuantumBlack, Emirates Group, dataroots, Cleverly, among others.
