Hangout with VCs occurred on January 20, online, and was the result of a partnership between ScaleUp Porto, StartUpAmsterdam and TheNextWeb (TNW) to connect startups and international investors.
From the set of 30 startups (19 Portuguese and 11 Dutch) and 10 investors, 120 connections were produced.
The session also featured testimonies from Johan van Mil, co-founder and managing partner of Peak Capital, and Adão Oliveira, investment manager in Portugal Ventures, regarding Portugal and Netherlands latest entrepreneurship trends.
In the weeks leading to the event, two meetups were organized so that participants got the chance to learn about access to investment opportunities with international investors.
In the first of these meetings, startups got insights from Thijs Dijkman (Peak Capital), Alexandre Teixeira dos Santos (Bright Pixel / Sonae IM) and Orla Browne (Dealroom) on early stage investment evolution.
In the second one, focus was driven to preparing the due dilligence stage, and Lurdes Gramaxo (Bynd Venture Capital) and Madeline Lawrence (Peak Capital) brought their expertise and raised some ‘red flags’ that shall always be kept in mind.
Hangout with VCs and its preceeding events were promoted together with StartUpAmsterdam to get the best out of both cities’ networks and to interconnect the two ecosystems.
