During September 21 and 22 Porto welcomes Tech Tour International Venture Club – Smart Capital.
The event, which takes place at the headquarters of ANJE – National Association of Young Entrepreneurs, brings together around 70 international investors, independent venture capital fund managers and strategic investors, with the purpose of reflecting on the “ScaleUp” process.
The 2017 edition focused on the “Scaling Up” topic couldn’t be more aligned with the ScaleUp Porto strategy. Large business leaders will discuss how to evolve a research and development (R&D) strategy for mergers and acquisitions (M&A) or even corporate investments (Corporate VC) and how these new strategies contribute to accelerate their development.
This edition in Porto includes guests from companies such as Boston Scientific, Logitec or Samsung Electonics, but also investment funds like Innovestor Vetures, the manager of the largest portfolio of venture backed companies in Finland or Merck Global Health Innovation Fund.
From the list of guests from all over the world, national companies will also be present at the event, such as Indico Capital Partners, SONAE IM, EDP Ventures, Pathena, Caixa Capital, Armilar Venture Partners and Critical Ventures. Portugal will also be represented on the speeches agenda with the contributions from Stephan Morais (Indico Capital Partners) and Cristina Fonseca (Talkdesk), discussing “Portugal as a case of success and growth” and “How to create global software from Portugal”, respectively.
In a joint promotion by Câmara do Porto, ANJE and Indico Capital Partners, this initiative seeks to open new financing and investment opportunities for the national ecosystem, bringing together more than 60 entrepreneurs from the region, who will have the opportunity to work closely with the investors participating in the event.
Tech Tour is one of the largest investor-oriented communities in Europe, connecting entrepreneurs, investors and corporate partners from across the world. The organization supports entrepreneurs and investors realise their full journey of innovation, from the initial concept all the way through to valuation. Over 2000 high-tech companies apply and 750 investors take part in their 25 leading tech events held each year. The International Venture Club was created with the purpose of facilitating the contact between entrepreneurs and investors, giving space to discuss new business, investment strategies and scalability processes, being this event one of the first steps in this direction.
