The city of Porto hosted the first edition of the SIM Conference (Startups & Investment Matching) at the Alfândega Porto Congress Centre. Powered by Startup Portugal, the three-day event from May 2 to 4 gathered entrepreneurs, investors, and industry leaders from across Portugal and beyond, creating a dynamic environment for networking and knowledge sharing.
The conference was designed with a clear mission: to facilitate meaningful connections between startup founders and investors, offering a platform for startups to pitch their ideas and investors to discover new opportunities. The event’s agenda was packed with insightful sessions, panel discussions, and workshops featuring prominent figures like Tim Ferriss, Cristina Fonseca (Indico), Mike Sigal (Sigal Ventures), Luther Lowe (Y Combinator), Marcelo Lebre (Remote), and many more.
Porto was the city chosen for the first edition of this conference, having shown to have one of the most vibrant startup ecosystems in Europe:
- A thriving community of 900+ startups with 50,000+ employees;
- Key sectors including software development, healthcare, and marketing;
- 10 unicorns with tech offices in Porto.
