The startups – from any area of activity – registered at the event had the opportunity to present their solutions to 23 large companies interested in investing in innovation and technology, in what is one of the most vital sectors for the economy of the city and region.
Doing Business, an activity created by ScaleUp Porto, under the auspices of the Municipality of Porto, puts large companies and startups in a ‘match-making’ process, in which the challenge is to explore opportunities for collaboration, promoting innovation and stimulating the capacity for joint growth. This is the initiative’s 9th edition.
This time the focus was on Tourism, with 23 large companies confirmed, among them ANA Aeroportos de Portugal, Grupo Pestana, Sonae Capital, STCP, Transdev, Super Bock Group, Symington, Aveleda. All the participating companies have shown interest and capacity to invest in technological solutions, being in search of the best tech partners to solve their specific needs and challenges.
ANJE, Associação de Turismo Porto e Norte, NEST Centro de Inovação do Turismo, Porto Business School, Turismo de Portugal and UPTEC partnered with ScaleUp Porto to make this edition happen.
All entities, both those partners and those who participated as ‘corporate’, are unanimous in identifying tourism in Porto as a promising area in terms of innovation, investment and return.
Once registered at the event, each startup had the opportunity to express areas of interest and, based on common ground, the organization scheduled a maximum of 30-minute meetings to allow large companies and startups to explore partnerships and new business.
Along its 9 editions, Doing Business already counts approximately 900 business meetings held between startups and R&D centers and corporates.
