A new cycle of masterclasses has begun this afternoon, organized for the city’s technological innovation ecosystem. Miguel Pinho, technology leader of the Seedcamp investment fund, was the first guest in this four-session cycle.
The latest masterclass cycle of the ScaleUp Porto strategy began in the best way, with a series of success stories told by someone who knows them from inside: Miguel Pinho, technology leader at Seedcamp, the London-based investment fund that has supported startups from around the world.
Miguel shared some tips and insights on fundraising and growth. Stories related with startups supported by this pre-seed and seed capital fund, whose main objective is to invest in world-class founders, at an early stage of new technology projects that respond to real problems and needs.
“How do we support our startups? With money and knowledge. We help them plan the next stages of their business plan – sometimes even help them rephrase them. We open doors, raise customers, pass on knowledge, and associate our name with new start-ups, whether through our internal resources, or through the most experienced entrepreneurs we have helped”, Miguel said.
That’s how Seedcamp has been collaborating with startups like Revolut, Transferwise or Ui Path, just to name a few of the best examples on their portfolio.
According to Miguel Pinho, their role as a team is to make the right questions, put new challenges and support whenever possible.
“Fortunately, our story is beautiful, but it’s not hard for us to admit that we have already failed, it’s part of the game. Only then can we avoid the next mistakes”, concluded Seedcamp’s technology leader.
The next ScaleUp Porto masterclass is scheduled for September 27, starting at 9am at Pólo Zero. Actress Inês Garrido will be the protagonist in a session focused on leadership skills. Registration is already sold out, but you can join the waitlist.
