NUMA STARTUP, NADA SE PERDE, TUDO SE TRANSFORMA.

Incinerator é o novo projeto da Founders Founders, apoiado pelo ScaleUpPorto e a Câmara Municipal do Porto, que promete registar a aprendizagem das startups que terminaram.

A comunidade de startups portuguesa conheceu, nos últimos anos, um crescimento bem visível na economia, na sociedade e nas notícias. Há hoje muito mais empreendedores a tentar construir negócios globais a partir de Portugal.

Dizem os estudos que, o que podemos ter de mais certo, é que a esmagadora maioria destes projetos vai desaparecer. Na verdade, quanto mais madura estiver a comunidade, com mais projetos e mais tentativas, mais casos teremos de projetos que não funcionaram ou que se transformaram noutros projetos.

Muitas startups terminaram e muitos empreendedores seguiram novos caminhos nos últimos anos. O que de bom ficou? Não sabemos o que os seus fundadores aprenderam, não conhecemos a fundo as suas histórias.

Por estas razões, a Founders Founders, uma comunidade de fundadores com sede no Porto, criou o projeto Incinerator. O projeto traduz-se numa série de eventos que prometem mostrar que, numa startup, nada se perde e tudo se transforma, para que se torne acessível o conhecimento e a aprendizagem conquistados.

INCINERATOR #1

No primeiro evento do Incinerator, ficaremos com a presença de Nelson Pereira (https://www.linkedin.com/in/ncpereira/), fundador e CEO da TopDox. O Nelson irá partilhar a sua história na TopDox e vai explicar ao público o que correu mal, tudo isto para que evitemos cometer os mesmos erros ao longo do nosso próprio percurso como empreendedores.

A TopDox era um serviço de cloud empresarial e servidor de ficheiros, que permitia uma solução de acesso e compartilhamento móvel de ficheiros para a empresa, sem necessidade de migração ou armazenamento em nuvem. A TopDox teve muitos sucessos como startup, esteve em destaque em vários eventos e na media (Rise, ScaleUp for Europe, LIS, co-fundador da revista) e ganhou vários prémios. Apesar dos sucessos, o projeto foi encerrado recentemente e o Nelson vai-nos explicar porquê.

O foco principal deste evento é precisamente obter um comentário real e direto do empreendedor sobre as dores e desafios que enfrentou.

The incinerator is the newest project of Founders Founders supported by Scale Up Porto and Câmara Municipal do Porto that promises to register the learnings of the startups that have closed.

In recent years the Portuguese startup community has experienced a very visible growth, in economy, in society and in news. Today, there are many more entrepreneurs trying to build their businesses from Portugal.

The studies show, and with accuracy, that the overwhelming majority of these projects will disappear. In fact, the more mature the startup community is, the more projects and attempt it has, the more projects that also do not work it will have.

Many startups have already closed and many entrepreneurs have seeked for new paths in recent years. What of good was left? We do not know what did the founders learn and we do not know their stories in depth.

For these reasons, Founders Founders, a community of founders based in Porto, created the Incinerator project. The project is a series of events that promise to show that in a startup, nothing is lost and everything is transformed, so that the knowledge and all learnt lessons become accessible to everybody.

INCINERATOR #1

At the first Incinerator event we’ll be delighted with the presence of Nelson Pereira (https://www.linkedin.com/in/ncpereira/), founder and CEO of TopDox. Nelson will share his story and explain to the crowd what went wrong, so we do not commit the same mistakes along our own path.

TopDox was an app that provided enterprise clouds and file servers, that allowed for mobile file access and sharing solution for the company, with no migrations or cloud storage needed. TopDox has achieved many successful milestones as a startup, caught event’s and media’s spotlights (Rise, ScaleUp for Europe, LIS, co-founder magazine) and won some prizes. Despite their successes, the project was recently shut down and Nelson will explain why.

The main focus of this event is precisely to get a real and direct comment from the entrepreneur about the pains and challenges he has faced.
